Do You See Water or Wine?

wine

Jesus, His mother, the disciples, and some of his closest friends had been invited to a wedding in Cana of Galilee. At this marriage feast the wine would soon give out, so His Mother came to Him and said, “Soon there will be no more wine.” Jesus said to her, My Mother, what does that have to do with me? The hour has not yet come to reveal my glory.

Now the Mother of Jesus knew her Son’s heart, and His desire to show His Heavenly Father’s glory. After her request to Him, she told the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Now there were water pots of stone set there for the purpose of Jewish purification (ceremonial washing). Jesus said to the servants, “fill the water pots with what little wine you have, to each one a measure.” Then Jesus stood and raised His right hand and blessed the pots.

Then He said to them, “Now draw what you need, that all the guests may drink their fill”. They took the wine and gave it to the guests and all that were there drank their fill and were satisfied. When the steward of the feast tasted the wine, and not knowing where it came from, He came to the bride and bridegroom and said to Jesus, “everyone serves the good wine first, and when the guests have drunk freely, then that which is worse. You have kept the good wine until now!”

The disciples wondered at what He had done, but He said to them, “why do you marvel? Have I not told you that I AM in the Spirit (Father, Son, Holy Spirit) as the Spirit is in me? It is man who sees only poverty, for He sees with the eyes of the master of this world system. But where man sees poverty, the Spirit sees only abundance. What the Spirit sees I see, and what I see the Spirit sees .And what the spirit sees is.”

This was the beginning of His signs (miracles), that revealed His glory; and His disciples believed in Him.

There is so much for us to learn from our Lord’s first miracle.

To begin with, there was a definite need and all the humans (except Mary) perceived lack, shortage and poverty. Mary perceived her Son was able to meet real needs and bring real miracles.  As humans we see our many needs, but it is rare to see an individual who has believing, persevering, tried and tested faith. Many times we do not recognize that we are walking in the reasoning of our fleshly natural man, and our heart and mind are not connected in Oneness with Holy Spirit.  We lack experience, knowledge and understanding of the reality of the promises of God. There are many spiritual principles given in the Word that our Heavenly Father desires all His children to be partakers of, while we live on planet earth.

Humans apart from the Spirit see only poverty…. because we see through the eyes of the master of this world system. But Jesus said where man only sees only poverty, the Spirit sees only abundance. And what the Spirit sees IS reality! Glory to God!

Spiritual reality will be manifested into physical reality when we believe! We are all at different spiritual levels, but Jesus is willing, and wants to meet each of us at our point of need. God loves each individual in such an enormous, great way; it is hard for us to comprehend how pure His love towards us is. Jesus Christ desires to show His glory to those that love and follow Him. He longs for us to see with the eyes of ‘the abundance of the Spirit’, as our heart, soul and mind evolve into Oneness with Him. It is God’s desire for you to experience the reality of His grace and favor, as He raises His hand over your life and blesses you!

“This, the first of His signs (miracles, wonderworks), Jesus performed in Cana of Galilee, and manifested His glory [by it He displayed His greatness and His power openly], and His disciples believed in Him [adhered to, trusted in, and relied on Him]” (John 2:11).
