Inspiration Teaching Words of Life Healing & Joy

Principles of Living Faith

faith and courage

While walking in flesh on this earth, Jesus, the Son of Man taught his disciples many wise truths. Jesus’ words, acts of love, and healing power were training and preparing his intimate followers to be able to walk by faith and not by sight when He returned to His Father in heaven.

First Jesus told them, “Loving me empowers you to obey my word”. In other words, faith is not just about trying to do well and obey rules in our own strength. This type of religious walk usually results in toxic condemnation and guilt if we fall, or if we perceive we keep the rules, we get tripped up in self-righteous religious pride.  Jesus died to set us free from guilt, condemnation, and pride not beat us up for falling short. True faith is empowered by having a loving, growing, personal relationship with Jesus! The power of Jesus love towards us and the power of our love towards Him connect us to passionately listen, learn, and desire to keep his word. If we don’t love him we will not have the desire to obey his words. It pleases God when His children love Him, because this love gives us the grace and power to walk in faith. Love is the beginning principle that grows faith.

Secondly Jesus said, “The Father did not send me to speak my own revelation, but the words of my Father. I am telling you this while I am still with you”. He wanted the disciples to understand that He, Jesus the Son of Man was the revelation of God the Father in the flesh. This is a powerful principle that must be acknowledged and believed, because during times when our faith is tested, we must have confidence that God loves us- is on our side- will work things out for good-and that we can count on His mercy, compassion, and care to bring us a victorious faith walk, while living on earth. Jesus revealed the Father’s true sacrificial, loving nature to mankind.

Next Jesus said, “When the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you”. The Holy Spirit living within us is a gift that our gifting God has supplied us with. The Spirit of Holiness will enable us to fulfill our God given destiny, and walk in the abundant life Jesus promised. The Holy Spirit is our teacher, and he will make God’s word alive to us!  He is the powerful Source who inspires us to step forward by faith – He is living within us-closer than we know, and is able to keep us from falling. This principle will empower and encourage us that we are not alone in our walk of faith.

Finally Jesus told his disciples, “I leave the gift of peace with you-my peace. Not the kind of fragile peace given by the world, but my perfect peace. Don’t yield to fear or be troubled in your hearts- instead, be courageous”! Jesus knew that his followers’ faith would soon be tried by circumstances beyond their control. The principle of yielding ourselves to Him and His peace, not yielding to fear, but stepping forward in His courage will keep us moving forward in faith. Even when we feel afraid, we must hold our loving, Heavenly Father’s hand and allow Him be our courage. Even during difficult times, while yielding to faith and courage, we will still trust and cling to our Faithful and True God.
