Stepping Forward in Courage

courage

Courage is needed to keep stepping forward on our earthly spiritual journey. Without the Lord’s positive energy we can do nothing, and without courage, we cannot begin anew each day. When we lack courage, our defense mechanisms drive us to withdraw and hide from all that is not “easy”. If we choose to withdraw or hide; fear will rob us of our God given destiny, and attempt to steal the purposes and plans God has for our lives.

When Moses called to all Israel, readying them to be led by Joshua into the Promised Land he said, “You have seen all that the Lord did before your eyes in Egypt to Pharaoh; The great trials which your eyes saw, the signs, and wonders”. He was reminding them of the faithfulness of God through all the difficulties. Moses encouraged them to choose life- that is to choose God’s way of doing things and receive the covenant blessing. He admonished them to love the ‘Lord thy God’, obey His voice, and cling to Him.

There would be many obstacles for the Israelites to face on this journey in the Promised Land.  There would be Giants, enemies, and various hurdles and trying times to overcome. So Moses spoke the Truth, to encourage God’s children- encouraging them to step forward on their journey of faith -“Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you”.

Like the children of Israel, we Christians walk by faith today! God has great plans for us, as we step forward, mature, and are transformed into Christ likeness. There will be trials, enemies, and sometimes we will be tempted by fear to turn back, and not step forward in God’s wonderful, unique, individual design that He has for each of us. But when the feeling of fear takes over, we must remember the promise of God – “Be strong, courageous, and firm. Fear not nor be in terror, for it is the Lord your God Who goes before you and with you; He will not fail you or forsake you”. Because of His blood bought covenant, powerful love, strength, courage, and Truth, all His precious children will be able to draw from Him and step forward in the fulfillment of His word and promises!

“Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you: He will not fail you or forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6).
