Turning Back To God

In the midst of tumult, stress and the pressures of life, it is very easy for us to allow our negative side to take over and propel us into an unhealthy emotional and spiritual place .During these trying, dark times, our hearts and minds effortlessly turn away from trusting God, as our positive plans and intentions seem to fail.

Yet even when we consciously give up on God and attempt to turn away from Him because of our anger, self-pity, disappointment, or lack of faith- He never leaves us! Even if we run away from Him, His love will continue to pursue us. God is always closer than we know and He shares in our experiences of distress and suffering. Although God never leaves us, He has given us the gift of free will, which gives us the choice to keep turning away from Him, in negativity and defeat, or humble ourselves and turn back to Him for the help we need to find refreshment in His positive Light!

God knows the world can be a challenging place to live, because humans damage each other so much through verbal and emotional abuse that affects our identity and self-esteem.  Satan wants to deceive us with the lie that our identity is found from what we do, or what others did to us. But the Lord wants us to find our true identity in Him….Who we are to God!  Jesus, God’s son, gave His life on the cross so our past, present and future sin could be blotted out! Then He sent the Holy Spirit to live within us- to make us one with Christ.  When God says repent He is not angry with us, but longs for us to turn around and return to Him so He can help us experience who He really is- God is a Lover of  our souls, Healer, Deliverer, Our Abba, Papa, Daddy Jesus, Comforter, Teacher, Wisdom, the Way, Truth, and Life! In a renewed relationship with Jesus Christ we will learn to intimately talk with Him (pray) and experience self-forgiveness and self-love, because Jesus loves us unconditionally! We will then be capable of loving others as we do ourselves.  A loving relationship with God will inevitability destroy and defeat the darkness and negativity within us. God’s love and presence is the breath of fresh air we need to experience recovery and healing from the effects of living in this imperfect world.

So repent (change your mind and purpose); turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased (blotted out, wiped clean), that times of refreshing (of recovering from the effects of heat, of reviving with fresh air) may come from the presence of the Lord. Acts 3:18-18.
