Yielding to God’s Love Instead of Fear

no fear in love

In trying times, God longs for his children to learn how to resist the enemy’s weapon of fear. Through a growing love relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit teaches us how to experientially yield to His powerful love instead of yielding to fear. God’s agape love is pure and free! This giving love, loves without expecting anything in return and is mightily more powerful than fear- it is the power that will keep us moving forward into full spiritual maturity. God’s love pushes out fear, because we understand we are forgiven, unconditionally loved and accepted, favored, graced, healed by his stripes, and no more do we need to fear punishment from God when we fall short. He is working all things together for the good of those who love him, and are called according to his purposes.

When we yield to God’s love, we stop opposing and resisting God, and agree with the truth that we are in a loving union with Him through our Lord Jesus. In this surrendered state, we begin to recognize and believe that we are covered and safe in his love. Satan does not want us to embrace this truth, but wants us to fall into his condemnation, fear of punishment and judgment.

As we grow in knowledge, wisdom, and in our union with the Lord Jesus, fear will gradually be pushed out of our hearts, because God’s love is the greater power that routs out the enemy’s lies and fear. It is God’s will that we find a place of peace and rest in the arms of Jesus, as we experience his marvelous grace, abiding love, and overcoming power.

“Anyone who confesses (acknowledges, owns) that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides (lives, makes His home) in him and he [abides, lives, makes his home] in God. And we know (understand, recognize, are conscious of, by observation and experience) and believe (adhere to and put faith in and rely on) the love God cherishes for us. God is love, and he who dwells and continues in love dwells and continues in God, and God dwells and continues in him. There is no fear in love [dread does not exist], but full-grown love turns fear out of doors and expels every trace of terror. For fear brings with it the thought of punishment, and he who is afraid has not reached the full maturity of love”1John 4:15, 16, 18, 19.
