Psalm 13

How Long, O Lord?

To the choirmaster. A Psalm of David.

13 How long, O Lord? Will you forget me forever?    How long will you hide your face from me?How long must I take counsel in my soul    and have sorrow in my heart all the day?How long shall my enemy be exalted over me?

Consider and answer me, O Lord my God;    light up my eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death, lest my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,”    lest my foes rejoice because I am shaken.

But I have trusted in your steadfast love;    my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.I will sing to the Lord,    because he has dealt bountifully with me.

Someday's it feels overwhelming and that the pain will never cease. King David knew about depression and anxiety and wrote honest and open songs to his God about how he felt and what he needed. If you are in the depths of depression, lost, and without hope, take some encouragement from King David, and follow his example. Dispite all he feels he turns and praises his Lord, and states his trust in the love that he KNOWS is there for him, despite what he is feeling in His pain. And he sings out to the Lord and rejoices. It changes the atmosphere of our soul. Mental illness is horrendous, but there is hope in our Lord.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, we lift our chins up and look you in the eye. We want to see Your face and recognise Your great love for us, your chosen children. Help us to know in our darkest days that You will never leave us, nor forsake us and as we raise a hallelujah for our salvation and sing to You You will meet us and heal us. Thank you Lord, all glory is Yours, amen.
