Joel 2: 12-14
12“Even now,” declares the Lord, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.”
13 Rend your heart and not your garments.Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.14 Who knows? He may turn and relent and leave behind a blessing—grain offerings and drink offerings for the Lord your God.
The Lord's arms are wide open to welcome back the prodigals. All of the time open. I came back to Him after some 25 years in the wilderness of my own sin and pain, and there was much weeping and mourning as distress as i was recoupled with my creator and friend. He is gracious, and so very compassionate, abounds in love. It's evident in every aspect of my life and the healing that has come from being in His arms again, under His care. The fasting bit, well, i'm about 6 months in from my first fast and have been managing to follow and get excited by both a regular schedule of fasting as well as the benefits to my health and my head that have come, but more than that i've seen mountains move in my own healing and restoration that i can only attribute to adding fasting regularly to my prayer life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your open arms. I pray for my friends and family who are not with You and I call them into Your Kingdom in Your precious name, Amen.
